Our Puppy Development Timeline

We believe the first eight weeks of a puppy’s life are critical in shaping their confidence, temperament, and ability to adapt to new environments. During this time we follow a thoughtful development program designed to give every puppy the very best start possible.

 

Week 1–2: Early Development

During the first two weeks, puppies spend most of their time nursing and sleeping while their bodies and brains develop rapidly.

During this stage we begin gentle handling and introduce Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) exercises that support neurological development and resilience.

Week 3: Eyes Open & First Interactions

Around this time puppies begin opening their eyes and becoming more aware of their surroundings.

We begin introducing new sensory experiences and gentle interactions to help build early confidence.

Week 4: Exploration Begins

Puppies begin walking, playing, and interacting with their littermates.

We gradually introduce new textures, toys, and mild environmental changes to encourage curiosity and exploration.

Week 5: Socialization & Training Foundations

At this stage puppies become more active and interested in the world around them.

We begin introducing:

• Crate exposure

• Early potty training foundations

• Increased human interaction and play
   

Week 6: Confidence Building

Puppies are introduced to more new experiences such as:

• Different surface

• Outdoor exploration when weather allows

• New sounds and environments
   

These experiences help develop adaptability and confidence.

Week 7: Preparing for Family Life

Puppies continue daily socialization and begin learning routines that will help them transition smoothly into their new homes.

They are exposed to normal household activities and interactions with people of all ages.

​

Week 8: Ready for Their Forever Homes

By this time puppies have received extensive socialization, early training foundations, and daily handling.

They are now ready to begin their next chapter with their forever families.
